The Hub Learning Community, will be sponsoring a training “Employee Well-being: A Manager's guide to Mental Health” hosted by SkillPath. The training will held virtually on November 19th, 2021 @ 1:00 pm. Attendees will learn how to 1) make emotional well-being a priority 2) normalize talking about struggles, 3)learn how you can improve stressful work environments and 4) as managers learn how to support your employees’ mental health. Examine what knowledge and skills are needed to navigate these apps safely, including avoiding common scams.

About the Presenters
Sara Kendall
Sara Kendall has been assisting people with disabilities to achieve their vocational goals for over three decades. Sara is currently a Program Specialist for Texas Workforce Commission-Vocational Rehabilitation Division (TWC-VRD). She is certified through the Social Security Administration as a Community Partner Work Incentives Counselor. Sara created and implemented Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services’ (TWS-VRS) Benefits Subject Matter Utilization Resource Facilitator (SMURF) program. SMURFs provide counseling and guidance to TWS-VRS customers and do presentations on benefits and work incentives to community partners. Sara acts as the TWC-VRD liaison to HHSC long term supports and services programs.
Kelly Yarbrough
Continuously working with people with every imaginable disability for over 30 years in various settings, Kelly Yarbrough, Deputy Regional Director for Texas Workforce Solutions – Vocational Rehabilitation Services, has developed a sharp understanding of the disability community and understands the intersection of numerous agencies with the public vocational rehabilitation program (VR). Her unique blend of experience as an interpreter, vocational rehabilitation counselor, contractor, congressional staffer and policy analyst provides insight as to how the livelihood of thousands of people with disabilities depends on the quality customer service of those who provide the services by our agencies. Kelly has decades of experience working as a vocational rehabilitation counselor, program specialist, Deputy Regional Director for Texas Workforce Solutions.

About the Presenters
Judge Kim Williams, J.D.
Judge Kim Williams was sworn in as the first presiding Judge of County Court at Law #9 in Travis County in 2016. Judge Williams received the 2020 Judicial Award for Excellence in Criminal Law from the Austin Bar Association Criminal Law Section. Judge Williams also presides over the Mental Health Docket, which provides thoughtful and appropriate consideration of defendants’ mental health issues as they relate to criminal conduct, with a goal of reducing recidivism and improving lives through appropriate treatment and services. Judge Williams is a member of the Travis County Behavioral Health & Criminal Justice Advisory Committee (BHCJAC) and the Intercept 3 workgroup. She also served on the State Bar of Texas Committee on Legal Services to the Poor in Criminal Matters from 2014-2020. She is also a graduate of the Leadership Austin Essential Class of 2015.Judge Williams earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She then earned her law degree from St. Mary’s School of Law in San Antonio, Texas where she served on the Editorial Board of the St. Mary’s Law Journal as Symposium Editor.
Melissa McRoy Shearer, J.D., LBSW
Melissa McRoy Shearer, JD, LBSW leads the Travis County Mental Health Public Defender (MHPD), which she joined when it was established in 2007. The office provides legal representation and ongoing intensive case management services to individuals facing criminal prosecution while experiencing poverty, serious mental health, neurocognitive, intellectual, and developmental disabilities. Shearer actively serves on a number of boards, committees and workgroups to empower, advocate for, and improve the treatment of people whose humanity has been historically devalued in our society. She is a frequent consultant and presenter on best practices for zealous advocacy and support of individuals with multiple disabilities. Shearer is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Social Work (’97) and the University of Colorado School of Law (’02).
Michelle R. Hallee, J.D.
Michelle graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a B.S. in 1987 and her J.D. in 1991. Michelle has been practicing exclusively criminal law in Texas for 30 years. She began her career as a criminal defense lawyer in Travis County. Michelle has been at the Office of the Travis County District Attorney since 2009. Nine of those twelve years have been in the field of Mental Health/IDD.Michelle has focused her continuing education on mental health and intellectual disabilities. She serves on numerous collaborative community committees around mental health/IDD such as Behavioral Health Criminal Justice Advisory Committee, ASH Redesign, and the Competency Restoration Advisory Group. Michelle also has lived experience with her adult son who has a severe IDD diagnosis and a consumer of Integral Care services.
Laura Wilson-Slocum, LPC
Since joining Integral Care 16 years ago, Laura has contributed to their substance use disorder services, psychiatric crisis services, and crisis intervention training for first responders. Laura has played a key role in developing partnerships with first responders and bridging the gap between behavioral health services, emergency medical services and criminal justice systems. Laura serves as the Vice Chair for the Capitol Area Council of Governments' (CAPCOG) Criminal Justice Advisory Committee. Along with her team working in mobile crisis response, Laura received the NAMI John and Kitty Holman Award in 2016, and was the recipient of the Senator Kirk P. Watson Public Service Award in 2018. She has presented her work at numerous national and state conferences, including The American Association of Suicidology and Journal of Emergency Medical Services national conferences.

Chad holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Austin College and a Master of Education in Special Education: Autism/Applied Behavior Analysis Concentration from Texas State University. He is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst® (BCBA®) and a Licensed Behavior Analyst with the state of Texas. He has a Behavior Coach Endorsement [400 Hours in Behavior and Discipline Management] from Education Service Center (ESC) Region XIII & Otey Associates and is a certified Texas educator in Special Education (EC-12).
As a BCBA and as a parent of a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Chad is committed to partnering with parents to improve the quality of life for their children with disabilities; he is also passionate about empowering parents to become the best teachers and advocates for their children.
Chad has a decade and a half of professional experience providing behavioral-support services to children identified as having ASD, Emotional Disturbance, ADD/ADHD, Specific Learning Disability, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, and Intellectual Disability, including children exhibiting high levels of physical aggression and/or self-injurious behavior (including pica) and children with ASD who also experienced significant trauma, such as neglect and physical abuse.
Chad has thirteen years of professional experience collaborating with caregivers, with other professionals—educational associates, school administration, behavior specialists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, classroom teachers, licensed professional counselors, and licensed specialists in school psychology--and with agencies, organizations or teams: CPS, CASA, Hill Country MHDD, and MCOT.

Dr. Feinstein is currently Professor of Psychiatry at Dell Medical School, Associate Chair of Education. He is the Medical Director of Special Projects to Integral Care. Dr. Feinstein went to NYU for medical school, AlbertEinstein in Bronx NY for psychiatric residency, and Columbia UniversityCenter for Psychoanalytic Training and Research where he became a psychoanalyst. Dr. Feinstein was formerly Senior Associate Dean of education at the Colorado School of Medicine, University of ColoradoDenver President's Teachers' Cholar, and previously Director of PsychiatricResidency Training at New York Medical College, in Westchester, NewYork. He is a psychiatric consultant expert teacher, supervisor, mentor, researcher with many peer-review publications in community psychiatry, psychiatric education, psychotherapy, personality disorders, suicide and violence, behavioral change, health & wellbeing, and integrated care. Clinically he was the previous Director of Psychiatric Emergency for 1/3 of the Bronx and developer/consultant to the 5 state crisis intervention services in Connecticut. He was Associate Director of NYS Medical Campus, UPIFaculty Practice. He has many publications, book chapters.

Jordan Fogle serves as the Projects Coordinator at Autism Society of Texas, primarily assisting with the design and facilitation of the organization’s adult social groups and pre-employment program. Seeking to bridge his interests in successful inclusion practices, pedagogy, and musical healing, he recently obtained an M.M. in Music and Human Learning from the University of Texas at Austin.

Barry Hamilton is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Barry has worked as a manager supporting IDD professionals in a variety of settings for more than 10 years. He is a champion of Direct Support Professionals and the frontline manager workforce, who coordinate and provide services to people with disabilities. In his time at Integral Care, he oversaw Crisis and IDD Services within a local authority setting. Currently, he acts as Clinical Director of the innovative programs at Down Home Ranch, an Intermediate Care Facility and HCS provider in Elgin, Texas. Through this presentation, managers and supervisors will learn tips for adding value to their staff supervisions.
